🔗 Add a recipe from a link
Spotted a recipe on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook? Two ways to save it:
- From Youmiamiam — Tap the big + at the bottom of the screen, pick "From a video," and paste the URL. We'll handle the rest. To grab the link, open the app (YouTube, TikTok…), tap "Share," then "Copy link."
- From your video's app — Tap "Share" in the app (YouTube, TikTok…), then pick Youmiamiam from the list. The recipe lands straight in your recipe book, like magic.
Extraction can take around 30 seconds. Once it's done, you'll find your recipe neatly filed away with its ingredients, its steps, and even a link back to the original video.
⚠️ Extraction only works if the video actually contains a recipe and the creator mentioned it out loud or in the description. You're also confirming you have the rights to share this recipe with us!
📸 Add a recipe from a photo
An old cookbook, a magazine page, an Instagram post you screenshotted? Tap the +, pick "From photos," and take a photo (or choose one from your gallery). Youmiamiam reads the text and whips up a clean, well-structured recipe for you.
💡 For the best result: good lighting, well-framed text, and not too much blur. The sharper the photo, the more accurate the recipe!
⚡ What are tokens?
Tokens are your currency for extractions. Each type of extraction has a cost:

How do you get them?
- 🎁 3 free tokens every month — automatically, without lifting a finger.
- 📺 By watching a short video — head to the Profile tab → "Get tokens," and watch a rewarded video to earn 3 extra tokens.
💎 With a Premium subscription, there's no more counting: every extraction is unlimited. You can check out the plans from the Profile tab.
✏️ Edit or delete a recipe
Edit
Want to tweak a quantity, fix a step, or add your own personal touch? Open the recipe and tap the pencil icon ✏️ in the top right. Everything's up for grabs: the title, the ingredients, the steps, the category…
Delete
Open the recipe, tap the pencil ✏️, and scroll down to the Delete recipe button. You'll be asked to confirm before anything vanishes.
⚠️ Deleting a recipe is permanent. And it won't hand back any quota or token — so think it through before you tap! 😄
📤 Share a recipe
Want to make a friend's mouth water? Open the recipe and tap the share icon 🔗 in the top right. From there you can send the link through the app of your choice (WhatsApp, Messages, email…).
Your friend can preview the recipe for free. If they want to add it to their own recipe book, it'll cost them 1 token — or nothing at all if they're Premium.
🌍 Change the app's language
Youmiamiam speaks several languages. To switch, head to Profile → Language, pick yours, and the whole interface updates right away.
⚠️ This setting only affects the interface (menus, buttons, this help page…). It doesn't translate your recipes: each one keeps the language it was extracted or typed in. To translate a recipe, you can always edit it by hand with the pencil ✏️.
👤 Account & sync
Why create an account?
Without an account, you can still use Youmiamiam, but your recipes live only on your phone. Switch devices or uninstall the app… and they're gone.
With a free account, your recipes are saved and synced across all your devices. Start on your phone, find everything on your tablet. Sweet.
Change your email or password
Head to Profile → My info, all the way at the bottom. You'll find the options to change your email and password there.
Log out
Profile → all the way down → Log out. Your recipes stay safe and sound on our servers, ready to greet you the next time you sign in.
🔐 Your data
What's kept, and where?
Without an account, your recipes stay only on your phone. The one thing we store on our end is an anonymous ID, used solely to count your free extractions — it's not tied to your name or your email, and it disappears after a year of inactivity.
With an account, your recipes, your email, and your photos are saved on our servers, in France 🇫🇷, so we can follow you from one device to the next.
And the videos and photos I send?
It depends on the source, and the difference is on purpose:
- From a video — we grab the subtitles when they exist, otherwise we transcribe the audio, then erase everything. Only the final recipe stays in your recipe book, with the link back to the original video and its thumbnail.
- From a photo — the photo is kept for as long as the recipe exists. It's what serves as the thumbnail and lets you find the recipe on your other devices. It's erased the moment you delete the recipe.

Delete my account
Head to Profile → My info, then scroll all the way down: you'll find Delete my account. You'll be asked to confirm before anything budges.

Everything leaves our servers immediately; our backups follow within 30 days at most.
⚠️ It's permanent. We can't bring your recipe book back afterward, not even if you write to us. If you care about your recipes, share them or note them down somewhere before you tap.
💡 A Premium subscription can't be canceled from Youmiamiam: that happens in your Apple or Google account settings. Remember to take care of it on your end if you don't want it anymore.
